In February last year, Khalif Kairo had a war of words on X with a guy called Rein [@Asamo] and what seemed to be a simple and ‘friendly’ argument escalated into a trending X war. Khalif with his well organized online army composed of praise and worship team and gratis simps who volitionally offer their defense and emblazon anyone perceived to be wealthy attacked Rein and cheered him as he mocked Rein’s dead mum.
I want to take you back to understand the genesis of this war. Khalif posted a photo of him in a car in February last year with a leg of a lady showing and Asamo revealed the identity of the lady which turned out to be true, Cera Imani. By then, no one knew Khalif and Cera were dating and Asamo seemed to have known nearly everything about the two, including Cera’s ex-boyfriend whom she deserted because of Khalif. Two days later, Khalif posted his photo with the lady in a chopper, launching their love in the skies.
The heat intensified with the climax being when Asamo put forward certain allegations about Khalif and one of them was that Kai & Kairo Ltd [ Khalif’s company] was struggling to deliver orders by its customers and it was just a matter of time before he was arrested. He gave an example of a lady who was yet to receive her car nearly six months after making the payment. According to him, Khalif was using money meant for current orders to settle previous orders whose money he had eaten with women.
Kenyans on X who claim to be an exceptional cluster decided to gang up against Asamo, telling him how he was jealous, poor and a loser. Being that around that time Khalif had travelled to the USA for a “business”, they made fun of how a desperate soul in the sub-urban residence of Nairobi [ Asamo] had the audacity of arguing with a super investor making deals in the land of opportunities. Sycophancy knows no class; it is even worse on X where people claim to be intelligent, in fact it is just another app for moderate ninnies with big English.
With time some of the allegations Asamo made against Kairo are turning out to be true. Between 1st December to 20th January at least four reports against Kairo were made by customers whose car ‘deliveries’ had overstayed the agreement by over five months.
” He will rise again” became the anthem when Khalif Kairo was first arrested for failing to deliver Ksh 26 Million Range Rover belonging to a guy named Murimi, which hasn’t been delivered till today.
” He will rise again” was still the anthem when he was arrested again for failing to deliver Ksh 2.1 million car belonging to Jeff Munane and Ksh 2.98 Million car belonging to Dona Okoth. Yesterday, they arrested him for yet another case of undelivered car.
While a section of his fans blame the system for his woes and others trying to lecture us on the complexity of car import business, let us not be blind of the fact that Khalif is not the only person in car importation business in the country and hence shouldn’t be the only one going through the challenges. We have several of them with others younger than Khalif; Business integrity is the foundation of ethical practice and leadership in business and it shouldn’t be optional on others simply because they are young or perceived to be celebrities. Accountability, honesty, reliability, transparency and respect of agreement/contracts and the rule of law is key in any business.
As we pray for him, let us not forget the victims who who are seeking justice as well. These are Kenyans who have worked so hard to have their dream drive and they trusted Kairo with their money only to be taken round for months with no sign of him delivering. For such matters to get to court, it means they have tried to settle it out in vain. There is a lot of sacrifice some of us make to purchase cars and for others, it is one of their biggest dreams in life. May all the parties get justice –
