Dikembe Disembe : How Disrespecting Party Staff Derailed Raila ’s Campaigns

The mistreatement and disregard for ODM Party staff is the reason Raila Odinga campaign was always disjointed and in disarray.

In between elections, the ODM Party do invest heavily in internal human resource, only for this critical party resource to be completely disregarded, ignored and locked out of the campaign.

As party staff, we were doing the heavy lifting in between elections then in the campaign year all manner of joyriders, flowergirls, pageboys, careerists, squeezes, lucky sperms, media retirees, opportunistic hangers on, etc, get be picked as the “campaign professionals”.

When I resigned as a party staff after the 2017 election, it was partly because I couldn’t stomach these idiocies. And this was shortly after the party had enhanced my salary to ‘six figures’.

To some of us, a Raila presidency was like an Obama presidency to African Americans.

We put our all in it, not for Raila Odinga the person, but for Raila Odinga “the symbol” of something much bigger.

After the so called “professionals” join the campaign, they always bungled it, and disappeared almost immediately after “Bomas”.

It was to us, again, that the party fell on to jumpstart the next struggle as the leeches — back in their burrows— waited for the next campaign year to make hay once more.

When we thought the lessons had been learnt in 2017 and that 2022 would be better; it became worse; with arrogance, liquid tobacco and lesbians added to the new mix.

At the campaign secretariat, ODM Party staff were treated like trash.

Had ODM Party staff been sent to Greece to confirm ballot paper printing, they would have noticed the Mombasa and Kakamega mistakes that led to the gubernatorial election in those two counties being postponed, giving UDA/KK a huge headstart…but who did the campaign send to Greece?

Raila Odinga did not die in India. Raila Odinga was killed many times here at home. Only the body gave up in India. People talk about mourning, the Luo community will mourn for a very long time.

It is for this reason that some of us are determined to consign some of the characters who took our dedication to Raila Odinga for granted, to the basement of history.

To all my friends, you must pick a side. LOL.
