Sifuna’s Hypocrisy: ODM Thrives in Nyanza, Dies in His Bukusu Backyard

There is not a single UDA MP in Luo Nyanza whereas there are several in Luhyaland.

Whenever Sifuna lectures Luo leaders, he never stops to ask himself where his Bukusu tribesmen voted.

In Bungoma County where Sifuna hails, there’s not a single ODM MP and neither is the governor nor senator. They elected MPs, MCAs, Governors and Senators in the entire western in multiple parties, not all in one party as happened in Luo Nyanza.

You will never hear Sifuna lecture Luhyas why they don’t vote one party, and particularly ODM. In the 8yrs Sifuna has been SG of ODM, the party is gasping for breadth in western.

Sadly, his lectures are directed at Luo leaders and Luo leaders alone. Never mind it is Luo Nyanza that votes ODM near per cent.

In Sifuna’s birthplace of Kanduyi Constituency in 2022, ODM came third after Ford Kenya won the seat, and DAP-K came second. This, in spite of Sifuna’s 8 years masquerading as the Secretary General of The ODM Party.

In the 8 years that Sifuna has been the Secretary General of ODM there has been no growth of the Party in Luhyaland that he spearheaded yet each weekend in those 8 years he used to draw huge *per diems* from ODM claiming he’s visiting party grassroots. The party availed to him a 4500cc prado fully fueled and placed him on a hefty monthly salary.

Go to Orange House and get Sifuna’s file. It is full of hotel receipts for a man who did not even have a rural house when he became ODM SG and came to work at party HQ —I was there when he entered the gates. I was working there. Party staff.

Whenever Sifuna speaks he spends more time lecturing Luo leaders than marketing the party. The ODM Party is in a worse situation in Luhya Western than it is in Nyanza, Coast, North Eastern, Maa Rift and Nairobi. What is Sifuna saying about the dwindling fortunes of the party in Luhya western? Why is he comfortable with it?

Sifuna is more comfortable around DAP-K leaders of western at a time they are eating into what remains of ODM there. One would have expected Sifuna to reserve his juiciest attack lines to Natembeya than Mbadi, but alas!

It is the expectation of the party base that you strengthen the party in the region you hail from, first and foremost. There’s an “ethnic reality” to politics.

A party official lecturing other officials when his own community do not even vote for the party is foolishness taken too far.

Sifuna must first account for the Bukusu voting against ODM over and over; again and again.

There’s no difference between Sifuna and the Kikuyu beneficiaries of ODM’s nationalistic character.

Both the Bukusu and the Kikuyu have never voted ODM in their majorities. This is an incontrovertible fact.

There’s no difference between Sifuna and Kamau wa Raila. They both add no value. Their communities are staunchly anti-ODM with no party representation.

He must always remember that.
