Migori, July 28, 2025
In a significant show of local leadership, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko recently hosted a high-powered delegation from the Rongo Juakali Umbrella Association at his official residence.
The delegation, led by Chairman Mr. Kephas Ouma Ochwodho and Central Kamagambo Ward Administrator Mr. Elisha Opiyo, convened to discuss the upcoming fundraiser on August 9, 2025—a landmark event intended to consolidate 38 artisan subgroups from across Rongo Sub County into a single, empowering SACCO.
More than just a meeting, the occasion reaffirmed Governor Ayacko’s connection with the grassroots sector, where he continues to champion initiatives for the Juakali industry.
The association expressed heartfelt appreciation to the county government for recent investments, including the construction of protective shades and installation of floodlights at Juakali work sites, upgrades that have improved safety and working conditions for local artisans.
Governor Ayacko pledged to rally both national and local leaders to guarantee the fundraiser’s resounding success. Notably, the event will be presided over by Cabinet Minister for Finance, Hon. John Mbadi, and is anticipated to draw dignitaries from across the region.

Beyond immediate economic benefits, this move further solidifies Ayacko’s deep-rooted influence in Rongo Sub County, a region central to his political base. By prioritizing the empowerment of small traders, artisans, and women’s groups, the governor is not only delivering on key pillars of his campaign promises but also fortifying his popularity ahead of the next election cycle.
Recent months have witnessed Ayacko leading major community projects in Rongo, such as distributing cheques to 147 women groups and overseeing road maintenance and healthcare initiatives—an agenda widely seen as boosting livelihoods and social cohesion.

Political analysts and residents alike note that such visible, tangible support for economic growth among ordinary citizens is cementing the governor’s hold on the subcounty, positioning him as the leading contender for re-election in 2027.
By integrating local traders and leveraging high-profile partnerships, Ayacko strengthens community loyalty and increases his appeal as a transformative leader committed to inclusive development.
